Swift StepsThe Get Well Club

The days get shorter. The room stays open.

All through November, Swift Steps and The Get Well Club are giving every Speak Now Tuesday to mental health and seasonal depression. Free on Zoom at 8 PM ET. Camera off is welcome and listening counts.

The November lineup

Four Tuesdays at 8 PM ET.

  1. Nov 3Tuesday

    Carrie Rattle

    Behavioral Cents

Thirty years on Wall Street in banking and credit cards. Carrie trained with Dr. April Lane Benson, took over her Stopping Overshopping program and co-wrote the new edition of To Buy or Not to Buy with her.

Nearly 18 million Americans struggle with compulsive shopping. It works like any other quick fix: the purchase lifts the mood for a minute, then the guilt, the debt and the hiding pull it lower, and it often travels with depression and anxiety. In recovery it can quietly step in for the old habit. Carrie opens the month right before the biggest shopping weeks of the year.

  2. Nov 10Tuesday

    Tyler Kidd

    Founder, The Get Well Club

Lifestyle creator and host of Get Well With Friends, new episodes every Sunday at 11 AM. In 2023 Tyler decided depression no longer had a place in the story, turned every hardship into a superpower, and Get Well was made.

Talk: Learning to Love Yourself Is the 1st Step

Less sunlight in the colder months throws off our circadian rhythm and shifts melatonin, and loneliness and depression find it easier to creep in. Tyler talks about why a foundation of self is what gets you through mental and physical changes like these, and shares the personal ways and mindset shifts that rewired Tyler's brain for self-love after years in a dark place.

  3. Nov 17Tuesday

    Jay Steinbrink-Simpson

    @mysticshowgirl13

Jay shares her story as patient zero: someone who lived through a narcissistic, abusive relationship.

That kind of abuse rarely starts with bruises. It starts with charm, then control, gaslighting and being cut off from the people who love you, until you stop trusting your own mind. The CDC counts more than 61 million women and 53 million men in the US who have faced psychological aggression from a partner. Survivors carry higher rates of depression, anxiety and PTSD, and many reach for something to numb it, which is how abuse and addiction so often end up in the same story.

    Content note: domestic abuse
